TEJA Presentation

Network of cultural spaces in support of emergency situations

Just like Casa Europa in Madrid and active members of the main European cultural networks, in el Círculo de Bellas Artes We welcome the presentation of TEJA, an international network dedicated to supporting artists and cultural professionals in emergency contexts.

The event will feature a performance from the collective Una Fiesta Salvaje and with the participation of the first residents of the 2025 Emergency Artistic Residencies Program: Shada Safadi, Manar Idris, Tareq Khalaf and Mahmoud Alhaj.

For more than two decades, el Círculo de Bellas Artes It plays a key role as a space for encounter, reflection, and cultural dialogue in Europe. As Casa EuropaOur aim is to broaden the debate on European identity, culture, and values beyond the academic and political spheres, bringing it directly to the public. We believe that culture should act as a bridge and a refuge in times of uncertainty, strengthening social cohesion and promoting the diversity of voices and narratives that shape Europe.

TEJA is a transnational network that offers temporary residencies to artists and cultural professionals affected by sociopolitical crises in their countries of origin. In contexts where conflicts threaten basic services, artistic practices, and freedom of expression, TEJA works to protect and promote cultural creation as an essential pillar of autonomy and collective memory. Its work represents an active commitment to human rights and the defense of culture as a tool for resilience and social transformation.

These activities are part of the special program dedicated to Europe Day.
