Round table | Tomás Marco: Time and memory
Tomás Marco (Madrid, 1942) is one of the most distinguished composers of contemporary music. To coincide with his seventieth birthday, various events celebrating his work took place in 2012. Círculo de Bellas Artes He organizes a round table discussion with the participation of Ilia Galán, Ignacio Amestoy, Jordi Teixidor, José Ramón Encinar, Álvaro Marías, Luis Alberto de Cuenca, José Luis García del Busto, Antonio Fernández Alba, Consuelo Díez and Juan Miguel Hernández León.
Marco's body of work reveals an intriguing exploration of sound. He studied under Karl Stockhausen, Pierre Boulez, Ben-Maderna, Giuseppe Lygeti, and T.W. Adorno, and has explored nearly every musical genre. He served as director of the Center for the Dissemination of Contemporary Music (1985-1995), is a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, and is the director general of the National Institute of Performing Arts (INAEM). In 1998, he received an honorary doctorate from the Complutense University of Madrid.
