Dialogues for critical innovation: culture, knowledge and society
What social impact do or can research in the humanities and arts have? What potential economic returns does it offer? How can the quality of innovation in the arts and humanities be assessed? What are some interesting examples of knowledge transfer in our fields? What are the benefits, and what are the potential pitfalls, of prioritizing strict novelty in the promotion of innovation?
Dialogues for critical innovation It is a project that aims to carry out a critical and transdisciplinary diagnosis of the idea of innovation in the artistic and humanistic fields. To this end el Círculo de Bellas Artes (CBA) has raised Ten dialogues in which researchers from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) reflect and discuss the concept of innovation with ten relevant personalities from different fields of the world of culture.
Through dialogue, the aim is to challenge the scientistic and purely application-based model of innovation/transfer currently prevalent in the university-business sphere , and to generate reflections on possible concepts of innovation and knowledge transfer in the artistic and humanistic fields . In other words, these conversations will attempt to shed light on what innovation (understood as the transfer of knowledge to society) means for artistic and humanistic research.
