Carolina Durante
In 2017, four twenty-somethings played in a Madrid venue near Callao before forty-two people. Less than two years later, Carolina Durante performed before thousands at every concert, their songs became chart hits, and they even popularized the term "cayetano." How can we explain such meteoric success, unprecedented in decades and seemingly limitless?
This book reconstructs the story of those four kids who barely knew how to play a guitar, but also the elements that made their emergence possible. Through their journey, we traverse a decade of transformations in the music scene: from the underground club circuit to the explosion of festivals, from the MySpace era to the rise of streaming , and in the background, a Madrid of impossible dreams, where that countercultural Malasaña, with its bars that served as a megaphone for different styles of music, succumbs to franchised storefronts and the afternoon scene in the face of the expansion of DJing.
In these pages, Manuel Moreno portrays an ironic and funny band that speaks to that youth that has experienced two crises and deals as best it can with the anxiety of unfulfilled expectations.
