The book to discover the work and thought of Dimitris Pikionis (1887-1968), master of architects and the greatest exponent of 20th century Greek architecture.
Dimitris Pikionis (1887-1968) is a key figure in Greek culture and 20th-century architecture. A contemporary of Le Corbusier and Mies van der Rohe, his most significant works are the approaches to the Acropolis and Philopappos Hill, where he sought to integrate tradition with modern abstraction. Pikionis's architecture synthesizes in its form the desire to address the condition of Hellenic cultural identity, understood as a synthesis of West, East, and Byzantium.
This book, with a foreword by the Italian architect Alberto Ferlenga, includes four texts by Dimitris Pikionis previously unpublished in Spanish and three of the lectures that took place in el Círculo de Bellas Artes on the occasion of the celebration of the exhibition Dimitris Pikionis. An aesthetic topographyIn them, the architects Covadonga Blasco and Juan Miguel Hernández León together with the professor of aesthetics of the Complutense University Haris Papoulias reflect on the work and thought of this unique Greek architect, painter and thinker.
