Seres híbridos en la mitología griega

Hybrid beings populate the myths and images in stone, bronze, and ceramics of ancient Greece. They are fantastic, monstrous, liminal, and ambiguous beings that configure a symbolic space, the space of the border, the realm of the antisocial, the unexpected, the disintegrating forces of life and death. They are beings whose hybrid nature transcends the limits of normality, opens the boundaries of the world in its everyday reality, and transports us to the liminal regions of existence, where norms are inverted, barriers are broken, and humankind enters into communion with the gods. […] We are going to take a journey into the world that these beings ( Medusa and the Gorgons , the Minotaur , the Sphinx of Thebes , the Sirens , the Centaurs , and the Satyrs ) depict in the Greek imagination, the realm of otherness, of the other, of that which is most alien to humankind and its civilized, ordered, and rational world. We will do this through myth and images of some of these hybrid beings, especially those that have the greatest relationship with the realm of otherness par excellence: death.
