Victor Enrich

Oil-painted portraits of four recurring members of the Forbes list are presented as contemporary symbols of the political and economic power that currently underpins the techniques upon which our cultural spectrum is built.

The unique aspect of these hyperrealistic paintings is that the artist produced them by emulating the execution technique a machine would use, as an experiment and without any prior knowledge of painting techniques. Enrich calculated the chromatic spectrum of each point in the original photograph, taken first with digital processes and then with a measuring instrument that determined the amount of paint needed to produce the required tone. One can appreciate how the technique improves from the first (Mark Zuckerberg) to the fourth (Warren Buffett). Two more works by Víctor Enrich will complement this paradoxical relationship in which the artist confronts the machine: a physical cube displaying the chromatic correlation required to paint these pictures, emulating the graphics used by programs like Photoshop, and museum renderings that place them in impossible spaces, architecturally parasitizing other neighborhoods of the city.
