El shodo Japanese calligraphy is the art of writing characters specific to Japan (kanji y kana) with brushes and ink. Literally shodo It means "the path of writing" and has both a very important spiritual and artistic component.

En shodo There are several ways to write Japanese calligraphy: kaisho, gyosho, soshoetc. A distinction is made between traditional and modern writing. Even if it is the same letter, word, or verse, the way in which it is executed results in very different works.

Concentration is a fundamental element of shodo to obtain a work of art in perfect harmony with the spirit. shodo It is not by chance, that is why the shape of the lines and points, their beginning, their direction and their end are very important.

The workshop is designed so that anyone—with or without prior experience—can discover the beauty of shodo as a form of personal expression, aesthetic discipline, and mindfulness practice.

The materials needed for the workshop are a thick and thin brush, inkwell and liquid ink and/or ink stick, 25x35 cm calligraphy paper and a suitable tablecloth.

Program

Introduction to kanji y kana: origin, structure and basic features.

Practice of the fundamental styles: kaisho (regular), gyosho (semicursive) and sosho (italics).

Brush techniques: pressure, rhythm, direction and stroke variation.

Concentration and movement control exercises.

Writing words, short poems, and individual compositions.

Final composition: creation of a personal work.

Total length: 20 hours spread over 10 sessions.
