Floating vibrations

Sensory workshop with the artist Laura Mema

Within the framework of the exhibition “We are roots”From the artists Santiago Yahuarcani and Nereyda López, this workshop proposes an immersion in indigenous knowledge and the vibratory intelligence of nature from a sensory, ancestral and creative perspective.

We will begin with a theoretical introduction to the vibrations present in living beings and the possibility of perceiving them through cymatic plates. We will also explore how Indigenous knowledge—such as that of the Amazonian peoples, often dismissed as mystical or anecdotal—reveals profound ways of understanding the nature of DNA and its potential role in the transmission of information. Furthermore, we will discuss how, for these peoples, water is identified with consciousness, acting as a channel of information and memory.

The practical part will include a series of Kundalini yoga kriyas to cleanse the aura, connect with the cosmic frequency, and open ourselves to the wisdom of the ancestors. Following this, we will perform an individual activation using tuning forks on different energy points of the body.

Next, we will delve into the mythical story of the Uitoto Genesis —the original cosmogony of the Uitoto people (also known as Murui-Muinan)—, where the word and saliva of the Father give rise to the world, generating the water that nourishes the Earth and invoking it to fall from the sky.

From this symbolic and spiritual place, we will open the artistic part of the workshop with a creative meditation that will manifest itself through the use of ink floating on water. This fluid and hypnotic technique evokes natural and cosmic landscapes, allowing us to create swirling and unique monoprints on paper, while

Spontaneous patterns and intuitive tools are explored. Its use traditionally dates back to Shinto priests and Buddhist monks, who employed it to connect with nature in a meditative state, beyond its value as decorative art.

We will conclude the gathering with a gong bath session, inviting the body and spirit to deep rest through relaxation induced by vibratory sounds. According to the Uitoto worldview, sleep is not simply a physiological state, but a sacred gateway to other worlds: a fundamental experience that connects us with the spiritual, with messages, wisdom, and the bonds with our ancestors.

Laura Mema (Santiago del Estero, 1978) is an Argentine artist and researcher based in Madrid. Her practice explores the connections between living beings and energetic landscapes, translating the intangible into matter through ritual, sacred geometry, and ancestral languages.

Since 2020, she has been developing the educational project AMANCIA, focused on teaching healing frequencies and designing medicinal gardens. She has held solo exhibitions in Argentina, Spain, and France, and collaborates with academic programs and transdisciplinary collectives working at the intersection of art, science, and health.

In Madrid he has collaborated with institutions such as Conde Duque and La Casa Encendida, and is currently an artist in residence at Collegium, in Arévalo.
