Seventh Centenary of the Death of Dante Alighieri

Coinciding with the celebration, in 2021, of Seventh Centenary of the Death of Dante Alighieri (1321-2021)​, more than thirty programmed activities take place within the framework of Madrid Città Dantesca, Which el Círculo de Bellas Artes is a co-organizer. The CBA already offered the inauguration of Madrid Dantesca at the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid and, more recently, the continued reading of the Divine ComedyOver the next few months, el Círculo will also host the ppresentation Dante Alighieri, Comedy (04.10.21) The conference La Painted comedy. Seven centuries of art (05.10.21) The Commedia: the conversation (05.10.21), the lecture series Dante's Women (15.11.21 and 16.11.22) and Lecturae dantis (30.11.21)

Presentation: Dante Alighieri, Comedy (Abada)

Presentation of the edition of the Comedy From Abada Publishers: a bilingual text with illustrations, studies, translation, and notes by Juan Barja and Patxi Lanceros. Includes an essay by Juan Calatrava. Contributors include Valerio Rocco, Fernando Guerrero, Juan Calatrava, Patxi Lanceros, and Juan Barja.

Conference: The Painted Comedy. Seven centuries of art

Led by Juan Calatrava, Professor of Architectural History at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Granada. His research focuses on the Theory and Historiography of Architecture, with works such as The Carceri of GB Piranesi (1986) The theory of Architecture and Fine Arts in the Encyclopédie of Diderot and D'Alembert (1992) Architecture and culture in the Age of Enlightenment (1999)  Studies on the Historiography of Architecture (2005)  Written architecture (2010) Garden and landscape. Intersecting perspectives (2011) and Orientalism. Art and architecture in Granada and Venice (2012), among other publications.

La Comedy: The conversation. Dialogue between Patxi Lanceros and Juan Barja

Patxi Lanceros (Bilbao, 1962) is a professor of Political Philosophy and Cultural Theory at the University of Deusto (Bilbao). A regular contributor to various journals and periodicals, his books include: Cultural identities (University of Deusto, 1997), the fate of the gods (Trotta, 2001) or Fragile truths, useful lies: ethics, aesthetics and politics of postmodernity (Hiria, 2000), Politically minded. From revolution to globalization (Anthropos, 2005), Tired modernity and other weariness (New Library, 2006) and Outlaws. Power, justice, and excess. (Abada, 2012) 

Juan Barja is co-founder of Abada Editores and was director ofel Círculo de Bellas Artes until 2019. Poet and essayist, among his latest publications the following should be noted Winter trip (1997) The Blade in the Eye and Other Theoretical Poems (2001) Contemplation of the fall (2001) and End of escape (2004)
