SUR Short Courses: After Nature
[df-subtitle] Post-nature and contemporary creation [/df-subtitle]
SUR, the School of Arts and Artistic Professions founded by el Círculo de Bellas Artes And La Fábrica begins a new program of workshops and short seminars, the South ShortsThese courses, open to all those interested in the intersection of art and thought, are created with the aim of becoming a space for transdisciplinary reflection on key ideas and concepts of contemporary art and culture.
This first course, led by Gabriel Ruiz-Larrea and titled After Nature: Post-Nature and Contemporary Creation , addresses the problem of nature in the contemporary moment. The idea of a romanticized nature as a backdrop against which human activity unfolds is no longer valid and must be replaced by a broader and more complex reflection.
This seminar will revolve around the concept of post-nature, understanding it as a political subject and a site of permanent conflict and negotiation. The course will explore these concepts, establishing an inquiry from artistic practice towards ecological parliaments and perspectivism, post-colonialism and the necropolitics associated with resource extraction, object-oriented ontology, and ecofeminisms, in order to theoretically articulate, through critical sessions, a shift in perspective.
In parallel, the Cine Estudio will host a cycle of screenings as a complement to this course, curated by Gabriel Ruiz-Larrea in collaboration with Elisa Celda.
